About the role:
Skybox Imaging is looking for an experienced satellite collection planner to lead the optimization of image collection schedules and sales engineering program for Skybox?s revolutionary imaging satellites.
The lead satellite collection planner shall have a demonstrated record of managing collection schedules, fine-tuning output from automated collection scheduling systems, and determining feasibility (time of length required) to meet customer orders. Candidates must have experience with mission planning systems and GIS tools. Familiarity with satellite command and telemetry systems is a plus.
Respond to customer requests for large-scale image collections, and estimate time required to complete those collections based on actual satellite capacity.
Optimize image collection schedules generated by automated scheduling software, based on real-time weather data and other constraints.
Coordinate closely with flight operations, to ensure health and safety of Skybox satellites.
Develop and execute procedures for maintaining list of speculative imaging targets (?spec deck?), a series of secondary-priority collections that support long-term business goals.
Build, grow, and lead an exceptional, industry leading team of customer sales engineers and collection planners.
Execute innovative customer sales engineering and collection planning solutions to improve resource efficiency and scale effectively with a constellation of 12+ imaging satellites.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelors Degree from accredited college or technical school
8+ years experience, with at least 5 years directly in collection planning for imaging satellites
Working knowledge of satellite subsystems (Power, Thermal, Attitude Control, etc) as constraints for the image collection process
Desire to work in a small, dynamic startup environment with rapidly updating priorities and a constant sense of urgency
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Superior decision-making and critical-thinking skills
Ability to work independently
Must be US citizen or permanent resident.
