Lead Software Engineer - Storage Skytap
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED As a lead in the platform group, you and your team will work together and with other highly skilled engineers to design and implement software to deliver scalable,
highly available, and secure virtual data centers to our widely varying customers. We use agile development techniques, and release major features on a monthly cadence. Our application is a ?micro-services? architecture, and is built primarily with open source systems, software and languages including Linux, RabbitMQ, and Python.
And we use our own product to power the dev process: we run Skytap in Skytap. Recursion FTW.
Things to do at Skytap
The Development Lead is responsible for a team of engineers that figures out how to build new features and adapt existing systems to meet requirements we haven?t met yet, and collaborating with team engineers, test engineers, and product managers to define the details and drive the deliver the project.
In this position, you?ll spend most of your time focusing on our storage architecture. Specifically, you will:
Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of the next generation of our cloud-scale software-defined storage architecture
Work with engineering and product management leadership to identify ongoing goals and projects for the storage team
Manage and evolve the team to address all aspects of the storage architecture
Define and meet scalability, availability, security, and performance goals
Rapidly build and evolve major features in collaboration with product management
Resolve major customer technical issues
Talk with customers
Research and experiment with key technologies, architectures, and standards
Use the product for dev/test
Test your work!
Write elegant, succinct Python code
Collaborate with a talented team of engineers and product managers
You must have:
2+ years experience as a dev lead
5+ years experience creating and testing production-quality code
3+ years experience designing and implementing scalable storage systems+ years experience with Solaris, ZFS, and enterprise storage hardware
We hope you have:
Experience using virtualization technology
Skill in analyzing, measuring, and optimizing scalability and performance
Deep knowledge of database systems and transaction management
Deep knowledge of concurrency control, data structures, algorithms, and scale-out software architecture.
