The Lead UE visual designer works closely with Product Management and User Experience on user experience projects to assure functionality, consistency and efficiency of the site, while ensuring an appropriate brand look and feel. At the same time coordinating with Marketing and Brand Management to ensure alignment between the overarching brand goals and the expression with in the Shutterfly site and applications. We are committed to designs that are effective for the business and compelling for the customer.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a talented designer who has experience in visual design for the user experience ? the presentation layer of the website and apps. As leader within the UE Design team this individual in close collaboration with interaction designer to bring to life new experiences for the Shutterfly customer. As an experienced individual contributor, this designer will be responsible for developing strategic designs according to business and brand specifications and maintaining or enhancing the visual architecture currently in use. This designer will also work closely with interaction design and product management to define mobile applications. As Lead Visual Design, this individual will be responsible for defining the look and feel of our mobile solutions across all four Shutterfly brands, as well as the web applications for each of the brands. The designer will develop a full understanding of the PRD requirements of the project and how the visual design will connect with the customer. The designer works under the direction of the VP of User Experience to ensure a connection between deliverables and strategic goals, and within the framework developed by the team. But it is expected that they work with independence on setting timeframes, managing their workload and defining aspects of their contribution.
Qualifications
Can communicate both broadly and in detail how their creative approach drives business objectives. Is self-directed and can develop focused, high quality design oversight on projects and strategies.
Had extensive experience designing mobile solutions, including experience designing motion graphic, animations, etc.
Can contribute to brainstorms and high-concept meetings to develop innovative designs.
Is able to work well collaboratively in a team environment, have outstanding communications skills and is able to take direction from Design Director..
Possesses expert knowledge of computers and the Internet?including both PC and Macintosh platforms. We seek designers who are well versed in all applications for the creation of graphic design for the Internet. These may include, but are not limited to: Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, In-Design, ImageReady, Macromedia Fireworks, and have an understanding of the basics of HTML and the requirements that HTML places upon web design.
Has a command of the creative requirements of design for a user experience and posses expertise in design for the web.
Leads projects and our creative culture through their experience and performance, including an outstanding professional demeanor.
Has a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from a 4-year University or College of Art or equivalent and 5+ years work experience in this or a related field.
Has experience working as a designer at a web design firm, online company or a design shop focusing on consumer and e-commerece solutions for web and mobile devices.
Experience as a Creative Director is a plus.
