We are a leading e-book publishing services company seeking an in-house design lead to help drive full-cycle user experience design for digital platforms. This is a senior level individual contributor position requiring proven capability to clearly define, articulate and champion user requirements, prioritize accordingly, and drive the design process from high level concepts through presentation layer specifications (interaction and visual). This is a high-visibility position within the organization, with defined growth potential and competitive compensation.
Some of what you'll be doing:
Take ownership of digital design projects from concept to code, with strong interaction and visual design capability.
Translate clearly defined business and user needs into beautiful, usable digital products on for web, mobile, device and other digital platforms.
Partner with UX managers, product managers, business analysts, developers and production designers throughout the lifecycle of the product development and delivery
Create page layouts/UIs, color palettes, typography, wireframes, system flows, iconography and user interface elements, while monitoring design consistency across all projects
Partner with product management to user-test your designs as needed. Contribute to the testing effort by planning testing cases, working with the development team and interaction designers to build prototypes, observe customers, analyze user testing results, and present recommendations.
Be recognized as an expert in user centered design and using design to improve usability.
What you'll have experience doing:
Experience in delivering original digital products designed responsively to scale across a full digital ecosystem (web, mobile, device)
Expert level proficiency and breadth of knowledge in traditional and emerging design, prototyping and collaboration tools (CS6 a must). The ability to recommend the most appropriate tools and techniques based on team and/or unique project need is essential.
Proven ability to define interaction and visual standards and apply them across a product or product line, and communicating UX patterns and visual specifications to a production and development team
Experience delivering in a traditionally managed digital product design environment (agency or client-side), the ability to take design direction, and present work for internal critique and at the executive level for review
Portfolio should demonstrate examples of successfully shipped product, as well the design story of how the final design was established
Design related degree preferred, or other academic or equivalent professional training in fundamental design theory and practice
Domain UX design expertise in online reading products or data visualization is highly favorable
