AppFirst has undertaken an initiative to deliver a new product line for its ecommerce, gaming and SaaS customers. This is an exciting opportunity to design, guide & create this new solution suite.
The goal is to deliver an extremely well-designed (think "Apple") user experience. At its heart, the suite will empower a customer to visualize, monitor and correlate risks to business performance (for example, dollar value of abandoned shopping cart) with degradations in system performance. The solutions need to be equally meaningful/actionable on a 50" dashboard watched by the full company as it is on a 15" laptop used by the CTO or a mobile device used by a member of the DevOps team.
Responsibilities:
- This is a senior position at AppFirst and, as leader of the User Experience & Visual Products team you will be required to lead by example.
- Synthesize competing demands and constraints of the product as seen from three viewpoints: business viewpoint, user experience viewpoint and application & operating system metrics viewpoint.
- Design simple and intuitive solutions to complex UX problems.
- Effectively participate in brainstorming sessions to discover potential innovations, whether they be incremental or mind blowing.
- Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and conduct appropriate user requirements discovery and analysis activities.
- Guide the development of user requirements in the form of written specifications, personas, storyboards, sketches, scenarios, work/task flows, and prototypes.
- Effectively communicate design rationale: how user research, design concepts, and design principles inspire and drive the work.
- Lead and actively contribute with a small team of user interface engineers to design, develop and QA the visual interface.
Functional Requirements:
- A strong belief that the user experience is the defining factor in making the product successful.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a User Experience Designer, Information Architect, Interaction Designer or similar role.
- Significant experience in product management and user experience design.
- Strong visual design skills and information architecture.
