Lean and Continuous Improvement Manager Purcell Systems Incorporated

Purcell systems began implementing Lean Six Sigma at all levels and locations in March of 2012. The employees have been very receptive and have enjoyed much success in reducing waste and growing both the top and bottom lines of our balance sheet. As Purcell continues to grow, the executive management team recognizes the need to augment the amount of human capital available to sustain the gains and lead the company through continued waste elimination and Lean Six Sigma training.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Expand Purcell?s Lean Six Sigma implementation throughout the company and be responsible for Purcell?s ISO driven Quality Management System.
Maintain TL-9000, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification by facilitating company participation in audits and reporting on key metrics associated with each certification.
Facilitate quarterly QMS meetings with the executive team.
Facilitate the resolution of Purcell Product quality problems
Lead certification efforts to new standard requirements as identified by Executive leadership.
Evaluate the training needs and develops training plans for continuous improvement.
Apply a ?train the trainer" approach to progressively educate managers, supervisors and cell leaders to conduct independent Lean initiatives.
Teach and mentor teams on Lean tools and their implementation, to include 5S, Kaizen, Standard Work, Visual Controls, A3 and DMAIC problem solving and Value Stream Mapping just to name a few.
Develop LEAN ?experts" in each area and facilitate team building.
Develop processes and systems to ensure sustainability of the created initiatives.
Facilitate multiple teams at one time and be involved in the hands on implementation of these improvements.
Guide teams through Kaizen events and assist them in justifying actions.
Assist in the development of value stream analysis and drive teams in prioritizing the tasks that need to be accomplished to implement the future state.
Become the ?go to" person for all teams, providing support where needed.
Support establishment and communication of the Lean philosophy to all levels of personnel.
Develop methods to foster employee engagement and acceptance of management directed changes.
Take accountability for the success of identified cost reduction measures gained through Lean.
Lead the delivery of significant, quantifiable, annualized cost savings.
Lead cost reduction efforts through cycle time reduction, process improvement, set up reduction, DFX and Should Cost Analysis.
Track and report team progress, teaching teams how to use the metrics and presenting progress reports to the Senior Management team.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience that yields the same level of knowledge.
Minimum of 10 years applicable work experience of which a minimum of three years were dedicated to implementing Lean or Six Sigma tools and principles.
Demonstrated technical competency in Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
Experience with statistical analysis software.
Demonstrated experience managing tools and techniques required to effectively map and reengineer business processes within an engineering and manufacturing environment.
ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt
Ability to train others in the fundamentals of Minitab statistical software
Manufacturing and Product Development experience
Proven ability to lead change and motivate at all levels within the organization and deliver business transformation results
Demonstrated experience in facilitation of conflict resolution
Ability to influence and lead in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
Practical knowledge around Theory of Constraints
Self-Motivated with a proven track record of success
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Broad experience working on project teams and structuring recommendations
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Solid technical skills using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project and Word
The incumbent will be notified of his or her work schedule. Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
The incumbent will primarily work in a manufacturing environment. While in the production area, employees may be exposed to occupational hazards including, but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc., and must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices. The temperature in the production facility fluctuates with changing seasons.
Must be able to travel nationally and internationally. Travel expected not to exceed 15%.
