Job Summary:
OncoMed Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join its team as Legal Assistant/Paralegal. The primary responsibility of the individual who fills this position will be to provide administrative assistance to OncoMed--s legal team, including assisting the team with the management of OncoMed--s contracts and rapidly growing intellectual property portfolio. OncoMed is willing to train the right candidate in either patent administration or contract management (if prior experience is only in one area) if willingness and other skill sets are present.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain patent application files and data rooms
Prepare and maintain contract files, databases, and data room
Prepare and maintain other legal and administrative files
Correspond with outside counsel regarding patent, contract, and administrative matters
Manage preparation and execution of formal documents for patent applications
Prepare patent application status reports, docket reports, patent family trees, claims binders, and file history binders
Prepare initial drafts of standard contracts from templates
Prepare and maintain patent docket
Manage internal contract request and approval process
Coordinate contract workflow between the company and outside parties
Provide other administrative support to the legal team
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree or paralegal certificate
3+ years relevant work experience in corporate or other legal department(s)
Knowledge of patent prosecution rules and procedures is preferred
Familiarity with standard contract forms and procedures is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
Proficiency in Microsoft Powerpoint and Visio preferred
Ability to work independently on a variety of projects simultaneously
Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changes in a fast-paced environment
Ability to proactively assume responsibility and consistently follow through on assignments
Excellent attention to detail and deadlines
Superior organizational skills
Great communication and interpersonal skills
