JOB SUMMARY:
In this critical role, the Maintenance Mechanic performs all tasks necessary to operate maintenance room equipment according to procedure, maintains equipment in production ready and safe condition, troubleshoots and repairs equipment as needed and performs root cause analysis when problems arise to determine if actions can be taken immediately or appropriate personnel need to be called. This position will participate in cross functional process improvement teams and will actively participate in daily team production meetings ? communicates key items within the plant environment on safety, quality, maintenance, production and continuous improvement.
TASKS:
Repair skills in electrical, mechanical and related equipment with technical proficiency in several of the following: welding, machining, sheet and structural metal fabrication, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Rebuild motors, replacing gears and bearings.
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all lab and production equipment.
Maintain dust collection and ventilation systems, material handling equipment, conveyors, bucket elevators, screw conveyors.
General knowledge of electricity, low voltage circuits, electrical diagnostics, switches.
Basic personal computer skills.
Ability to operate equipment such as forklift, scissor lifts, etc.
Ability to engineer small projects in fields of maintenance.
Basic ability to operate machine tools.
Knowledge in machine design and strengths of materials.
Knowledge and skills in safe rigging techniques.
Ability/willingness to work in plant environment under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high and/or confined spaces and have full mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs.
KNOWLEDGE:
Mechanical ? understands the equipment operations ? troubleshoots and modifies as needed, pneumatic, hydraulic power transfers ? identifies parts for repair or replacement or modification ? performs PM?s on all equipment ? performs daily operational checks of equipment, using senses of touch, sound, smell and constantly monitors efficiency, downtime ? helps production with the setup of the equipment
Electrical ? understands basic electrical theory and is able to troubleshoot motors, valves, photo eyes, sensors, wiring ? is able to read electrical schematics and identify components and functions as they apply to specific manufacturing parameters
Rigging ? understands weight capacities and lift extensions to be able to lift, move and insert heavy pieces of machinery ? able to operate fork lifts, scissor lift, sky lift,
Fabrication ? fabricates parts from metal and plastic for equipment ? welds, cuts with saw, torch or plasma cutter ? knowledge and experience of fabricating tools and equipment (hand and power)
Mathematical Skills ? Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance required.
3 - 5 years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic; mechanical, electrical and industrial skills.
Basic Computer skills, ERP/MRP.
Willingness to work weekends and overtime when required
Interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints.
Experience with lean manufacturing tools; value stream mapping, SMED, 5-S, Root Cause Analysis, or other.
