Linux Cloud Engineer Appia
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED The Linux Cloud Engineer role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house and data center computer software systems and network connections. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network software and communication links. The person will also analyze and resolve end user software program and connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.
Manage and administer Linux and Windows operating systems (primarily CentOS or similar)
Manage virtual machines running in private and public (AWS) clouds
Maintain Cisco firewalls and all host security activities.
Key player in configuration management, provisioning and orchestration.
Use tools to monitor and diagnosis website performance and application performance management
Provide on-call technical support, be able to work nights and/or weekends as needed
Assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required.
Ensure network connectivity, perform network and security audits as well as system backups
Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
Monitor and test server software performance and provide statistics and reports.
Minimum Job Requirements
BSCIS in the field of computer science or equivalent engineering field or 5 years equivalent work experience.
Experience with configuration management, provisioning and orchestration preferably with technologies like Chef, Puppet, Cfengine, Ansible, Capistrano, MCollective, Fabric etc
Strong cloud experience (IaaS / PaaS etc)
Minimum of 5 years experience as a Linux Engineer or related
Experience working in a production environment
Experience with J2EE server administration and tuning (JBOSS and Tomcat experience preferred)
Experience with Linux and open source technologies
Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
Ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required.
Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language.
Highly self-motivated and directed with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Strong customer service orientation.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
