Located in Houston, TX, Alert Logic is seeking to hire multiple Linux System Administrators to support and maintain our SaaS infrastructure environment and be responsible for assisting to ensure maximum availability of the IT infrastructure. We desire candidates with strong experience operating and administering Linux based systems, the ability to program using high level scripting languages and the ability to multitask and provide real time production support in large scale Linux server environments.
Alert Logic simplifies IT security and compliance management by delivering an integrated solution consisting of Software-as-a-Service products and 24x7 Security Operations Monitoring services for intrusion detection, vulnerability assessment and log management. Built from the ground up to address the unique challenges of public and private cloud environments, Alert logic partners with over half of the largest cloud and hosting service providers to provide Security-as-a-Service for over 1,200 direct and indirect customers.
Responsibilities:
Act as an escalation point for customer support for our platform systems.
Demonstrate the ability to diagnose complex production application issues and provide rapid, yet accurate remediation within a collaborative environment.
Believe in issue ownership from identification through resolution.
Design and implement production system automation in a continuous improvement fashion.
Required Skills:
5+ years of operating and administering Linux based systems, ideally in a cloud based environment.
Experience maintaining Dell blade infrastructure.
Proven scripting skills in Bash and at least one other scripting language (Python, Perl, etc.)
Experience setting up Xen servers and managing VMs.
Experience with various system imaging tools (SystemImager, Clonezilla, etc.)
Hands-on experience with at least one or more automated configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, Cobbler, Cfengine, STAF/STAX, etc.)
Experience using production system monitoring tools (Nagios, Opsview, Xymon, OpenNMS, etc.)
Hands-on experience with network configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting (firewall rules, tcpdump, etc.)
Desired Skills:
Experience operating a scale-out production environment, including disaster recovery.
Experience with configuration management and tuning of one or more of the following: MySQL, Apache, Xen or SAN Storage.
Experience working with Solaris and ZFS.
