LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

When you wake up in the morning to you have an insatiable apetite to write an amazing one line shell command that processes millions of lines of data in seconds Is your home heated by a small computing cluster Do you remember IPv4 addresses better than phone numbers Then you may just be a good fit for this position. The Linux System Administrator will work in conjunction with our internal development team to maximize availability, ensure scalability and improve performance across 60+ linux servers.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


-Maintaining and extending Linux production infrastructure
-Equipment purchasing and asset tracking
-Maintaining backups
-Participation in a pager rotation


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE


-Strong Linux server troubleshooting with one or more distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc...)
-Strong scripting skills in one or more of the following (Shell, Perl, Python, Ruby)
-Experience with MySQL and large datasets
-Experience with EC2 and virtualization (Eucalyptus experience a plus)
-Experience with F5 BigIP load balancers
-Some Networking (VLANS, managed switches, Cisco products)
-Hardware maintenance and troubleshooting
-Experience with administering fleets of Linux servers
-Previous experience working on a 24x7 production environment
-Excellent follow through
-Demonstratable history of innovation
-Previous contributions to open source
-Java experience
-Previous experience working with Java and Ruby stacks.
