Based in Houston, TX, Alert Logic is seeking to hire a Linux Systems Administrator to provide remote technical support and maintenance of our network monitoring appliances.Alert Logic is a leading provider of on-demand compliance and security solutions for mid-sized organizations and has been recognized by the Houston Business Journal as a Fast Tech 50 Award winner for strong continued growth for the 4th year in a row. Our on-demand platform utilizes software-as-a-service (SaaS) to enable our customers the easiest way to secure their networks and comply with policies and regulations.
The Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and deploying appliances/service instances in response to customer orders.
Required Skills:
3-5 years of systems administration experience in Linux /Debian and UNIX
Intermediate knowledge of network routing, firewall and tcpdump
Hands on experience with VMware design, implementation and support
Strong scripting experience (Perl, Shell, etc)
Must be open to working flexible schedule including weekends and/or evenings
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desired Skills:
2+ years of networking experience including a strong understanding of TCP/IP
Ability to follow process flows & network documentation
Effective trouble-shooting skills for layer one issues & router configurations
Understanding of IP routing, VLAN switching & IP Sub Netting
Strong understanding of NAT, PAT & DHCP configurations, as well as DNS
Experience with: SQL Server 2005+, Windows Server 2003+, networking and IIS
Education Requirements:
ITIL certification preferred
BS in technical field with an Engineering or Computer Sciences background preferred
