As the first deployment engineer on Cequint?s newest product you will own the production system. Working directly with development you will be in charge of updating, monitoring, troubleshooting, scaling and all processes relating to our production environment. Your responsibilities will include multiple high-performance servers running Java services and Oracle databases connected to high-bandwidth third-party systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Work with development team to deploy services to production environments.
Work with development on improvements necessary to provide better service delivery.
Responsible for support of UNIX development, QA, and production environments.
Work with third-parties for network maintenance and service affecting events.
Creation and documentation of formal processes and troubleshooting procedures.
Diagnose underlying network architecture issues and propose modifications for problem resolution.
Schedule, document and implement maintenance procedures when necessary.
Create lab environments to diagnose network issues or performance reviews.
Requires a thorough knowledge of UNIX system essentials.
5+ Experience with UNIX, Solaris and Linux
Experience with Juniper desired
Advanced understanding of Ethernet and IP networks including troubleshooting techniques.
Experienced troubleshooting skills and firm understanding of LDAP, Kickstart and NFS.
Proven knowledge and understanding of Ethernet traffic types and VLAN?s.
Understanding of DNS, BIND, ARIN and associated functions within Internet framework.
Able to provide tier-one support for production environments.
Ability to initiate and complete projects with minimal direction and guidance.
Strong scripting skills in Perl, bash or similar scripting language.
Strong interpersonal / written communication skills.
Diligent in follow up activities.
Proven experience working as member of a team.
Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
