Linux Systems Engineer - Cloud Platform Devicescape Software
Devicescape is seeking an experienced systems engineer to drive automation and quality of service for Devicescape?s cloud platform. This team will build out capabilities to manage our cloud-based offering, derive value from the data it generates, and be the experts on all of Devicescape?s cloud-based assets. This role will require creative problem solving, engineering focus, and the willingness to jump in on live-site issues.Responsibilities
Success in the cloud is all about automation and insight. As the Systems Engineer you will keep our focus on driving more and more automation into the system while having all the data we need to quickly respond to issues in an increasingly automated fashion. Our service is hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS), and job 1 is making sure we never have the need to log into individual servers again. We believe in administration of the Service, not of individual instances.
Core tasks include:
Administer, configure, and troubleshoot AWS cloud-based Linux systems for lab, staging, and production service environments
Provide performance analysis and solve complex systems administration issues, with a focus on preventing future service interruptions
Share responsibility for availability, reliability, and performance of production services
Requirements
Linux system-level experience a must
Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and managing common open-source automation; Puppet strongly preferred
Proficiency with technologies such as MySQL, scripting, and Amazon Web Services
Experience supporting high-traffic web services with complex architectures and understanding load balancers, Nginx, Java, Tomcat, Apache, Ruby on Rails, or similar technologies
Proven success at integrating and managing open-source solutions such as logstash, Nagios, Puppet, and Graylog
Strong technical documentation skills
Highly self-motivated and -directed, with keen attention to detail
