Based in Houston, TX, Alert Logic is seeking to hire a Linux Systems Engineer, as part of our versatile team, to maintain and enhance our next generation SaaS platform based on proprietary cloud computing technology.

Responsibilities:
Design, plan, and execute complex software projects required to upgrade our existing production software Infrastructure.
Implement production system automation and monitoring tools.
Act as an escalation point for customer support of our applications and platform systems.
Demonstrate the ability diagnose complex production application issues and provide rapid remediation within a collaborative environment.
Believe in issue ownership, from identification through resolution.
Required Skills:
Strong Unix/Linux system administration skills.
Excellent Skills in one or more scripting languages like Python or Perl.
Proven experience with monitoring and management tools like Nagios, Shinken, and Puppet in a production environment
Configuration, management and tuning of MySQL, Apache, and/or Xen.
Knowledge of network protocols such as IP, TCP, UDP, and HTTP.
Proven experience delivering and supporting production level projects used by a large numbers of concurrent users.
BS in CS, CE, EE or equivalent work experience.
Desired Skills:
Experience with C and/or C++ programming.
Experience with a functional programming language such as Erlang or Scala.
Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX system level APIs.
Relational database experience.
