Job purpose:Â
• Design, operate and support the enterprise VMware, Red Hat Linux and Unix server infrastructure at Health Dialog Â
• Ensure maximum uptime in all production environments
• Participate in a monthly server patching processes
• Provide server and infrastructure administration across the enterprise as assigned
Accountabilities and Activities:
• Design, deploy, maintain and support enterprise VMware infrastructure
• Provide architectural guidance and oversight into integration and upgrades of VMware products within the IT environment: storage, networking, systems management, capacity management and monitoring, high availability solutions, security infrastructures, etc.
• Administer, maintain and troubleshoot multiple Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) connected to VMware
• Manage storage activity such as planning, installation, operation and maintenance of storage systems, switches and other hardware
• Maintenance and administration of a Red Hat Linux and Unix enterprise server environment
• Support development activities and projects as needed, provide consultation, technical support and infrastructure requirements for implementation of new applications
• Participate in new technology evaluations
• Development, support and administration of Red Hat Linux systems
• Development, support and administration of Sun Solaris systems
• Identify areas for continuous improvement
• Occasional travel to a remote datacenter in Watertown MA for system support
• Rotational on call requirements as needed
• Maintain knowledge of computing technology and application through continuing education
• Communicate, verbally and in writing, to third parties and internal users in the installation, problem identification, and troubleshooting processes
• Maintain detailed records of communication, correspondence and responses to assist in planning process
• Research questions and follows-up regarding computing, storage. Coordinate with others in developing solutions
• Train Tier II personnel on server related daily operations
• Troubleshoot server networking problems via hardware and software
• Monitor Health Dialog Servers and Storage
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company and PHI data without exception
• Provide weekly written status to direct supervisor
• Document technical changes as needed during implementation and modification
• Coordinate special projects related to department and company goals, as assigned

• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Training and Experience:
Required Skills
• 5-10 years experience as systems administrator
• 3+ years experience with VMware in an enterprise clustered environment
• 3-5 years experience with Red Hat Linux
• 3-5 years experience with Sun Solaris
• Red Hat certification RHCT
• VMware VCP certification
• Virtualization skill set
o Design, administer, deploy and manage high availability ESX 3.5, 4.1, vSphere 5/ESXi VMware environment at an enterprise level
o In depth understanding on VMware datacenter and management products such as vSphere/ESX, vCenter Converter, vMotion, DRS, HA, Storage vMotion, Site Recovery Manager, Lab Manager, etc.
o Experience designing and implementing shared storage (fibre channel) solutions in order to utilize VMware*s VMotion, HA, and DRS
• Understanding of project management methodologies
• Data center operation
• Excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
• Shell scripting or Perl scripting
• Storage skill set

• Recommend solutions related to systems, storage, and data backups to meet and improve the company needs
• Participate in tactical leadership and decision-making for company-wide business systems needs
• Assist in the presentation of information to management resulting in the purchase or upgrade of hardware, software, and/or telecommunication equipment
• Assist with the establishment and implementation of Heath Dialog computer policies, procedures, and standards and ensure their conformance with company objectives
