Zipcar is current seeking a Localization Project Manager for our Product & Member Experience team! Under the direction of the EVP of Product and Member Experience, the Localization Project Manager will ensure Zipcar?s products look, feel and sound natural to users in their own countries. Excellent communication and relationship building are critical for successful partnerships across teams to establish budgets, needs and deadlines. You will leverage project management skills to ensure that our localization methods run effectively and efficiently.
As Localization Project Manager, you will be responsible for driving localization to provide high quality localized products and content while maximizing process and cost efficiency. You have a proven track record in project management and demonstrated ability to influence and grow business expansion. You are a self-starter, proactive, collaborative and dedicated to meeting deadlines and producing results. You thrive working in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment.
You will work closely with engineers, product managers, content authors, marketing managers, and language specialists, as well as represent localization to leadership team stakeholders; all towards efforts to deliver Zipcar?s global site content and products on time and with perfect linguistic quality. You project manage localization for Zipcar products and initiatives from inception to launch, including resource allocation, scheduling and risk management.
Manage cross-functional and enterprise-wide projects; conduct research and analyses that support strategic initiatives.
Monitor projects and communicate project status; define metrics, risks, issues, and mitigation plans; and adjust leadership approach to respond to project developments.
Demonstrate a willingness and proficiency for involvement at a high level, managing projects, while providing ?hands on? assistance in specific project deliverables.
Develop recommended project approaches that operate within the organization?s project management protocols while still accounting for unique project characteristics, challenges, and dynamics.
Present project updates, analysis, and findings on a formal and informal basis.
Coordinate translation through internal and external resources.
Develop and maintain terminology glossaries.
Develop and maintain a long-term localization schedule for product releases.
Proactively define, implement, and maintain a best-of-class process that will assist with the localization of new products, product updates, while maximizing efficiency and cost savings.
Work closely with Engineering, Product Management and Product Marketing (US and in-country), to identify and prioritize materials for localization and ensure localization efforts are successful.
Maintain translation vendors and manage relationships with them.
Track budgets, and establish, track and analyze production quality.
Contribute and participate in strategic initiatives cross-functionally.
Bachelor?s Degree in Translation required, Masters preferred.
Five ? plus years of related work experience.
Fluency in English, German & French preferred, Spanish a plus.
Strong software or technical publications project management, quality improvement, process flow, and organizational skills. PMP or SCM certification preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and a high degree of initiative.
Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
Proven experience with MS Word, Excel, MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint or similar software.
Project management experience working in Localization industry preferred.
Track record of managing multipart and multiphase projects involving outside resources and meeting deadlines.
Experience in delivering globalization solutions desired.
Experience with vendor management, establishing budgets and tracking expenditures.
Excellent verbal / written communication and analytical skills and the ability to work well within a diverse, geographically distributed, multicultural environment.
Attention to detail.
Experience with SDLC.
Familiarity with XML, HTML and desktop publishing.
Familiarity with industry standard Translation Tools (Trados, GlobalLink Suite)
Must be able to take responsibility for completion of a project with multiple parts and work collegially with other employees to ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets.
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience as a localization engineer or localization QA engineer is highly desired.
