Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager/Logistics Director
The Logistics Analyst/Buyer role is to serve as primary internal process administrator, statistical analyst and transport supplier contract auditor. This person is also responsible for planning and scheduling for purchases, ensuring on-time delivery to meet production needs via planning tools, including ERP, MRP, and other systems. Primarily supports supply chain team to ensure supplier performance.
This role will have broad visibility in to the various tasks performed by the Logistics Department on behalf of all NPS departments and will function as a process facilitator with substantial amounts of detail-work, related to various tasks & projects.
Working hand in hand with the Logistics Coordinator and our Purchasing team, this position will support a winning internal & external customer experience and reliable Inbound Supply Chain transportation service while focusing on internal process compliance and controls.
Analyze numerical or verbal data, process & extrapolate critical points
Audit all related customer shipping documentation & file retention
Generate shipping documentation where necessary
Work closely with transport suppliers monitoring rates & service levels to ensure contract compliance
Executes tasks comprising of basic buying (PO execution) for assigned commodities/parts. Accountable for planning and executing a specific set of part numbers or commodities to maintain proper materials flow to company within metric targets.
Work with Packaging Suppliers to develop custom packaging solutions
Support manual supply planning processes
Unit Shipping Quotes for the sales department
General analytic tasks:
Landed costs analyses
Market rate benchmarking
Freight Contract negotiation support
& more where identified
Maintain & develop positive business relationships with Transportation & Packaging suppliers
Report Project plans, progress and results
Implement technical project management tools such as plans, schedules and compliance matrices as directed
Assist in inventory reconciliation and perform ERP inventory transfers where necessary
Code freight invoices and resolve any discrepancies.
File, manage and see to finish shipping claims where necessary
Provide shipping help, cost quotes to other departments
General reporting support & data entry/capture where necessary
Communicate insights and feedback on related process docs relevant to daily tasks
Demonstrate multi-tasking ability, keep multiple projects on-track, structuring and executing work
Recognize potential issues and problems, know when to escalate and propose solutions, where possible
3 years? experience involved in or exposed to freight invoices specifically in a transportation administrative environment, or 3 years? experience in Material Purchasing role with general knowledge of inbound logistics and material sourcing.
Advanced capability with MS Excel
Strong other MS Office skills (Outlook, Project, Power Point & Word)
Strong numerical & statistical analytical skills
Strong ability to apply cost benefit analysis techniques
Strong ability to apply math principles to identify or analyze problems
Capable of interpreting material Demand plans and MRP schedules in to transportation spend forecasts
Strong familiarity with domestic and international shipping documents & processes
Bachelor?s degree in a related discipline
Lean, DMAIC or focused training in Statistical Process Controls
Experience pulling & processing data from an ERP
APICS, ISM or other Supply Chain Management training
