The Logistics Buyer will assist the Logistics Commercial Business Manager with the procurement of Logistics services to build and maintain a robust global logistics network. This will involve developing the specification, negotiating with suppliers and preparing sourcing cases. Contracts will include warehousing activities, rail transportation, truck transportation, air transportation as well as other services.
Responsibilities: - Assist in creating a comprehensive logistics supplier strategy in support of product growth plans. - Develop bid specifications, identify potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, vet suppliers, prepare bid-recaps, and make sourcing recommendations. - Lead the collaboration with Legal in creating, negotiating, and editing optimal corporate transportation contracts. - Project management resolution of commercial issues related to transportation contracts. - Develop competitive supply base options and maintain updated commodity strategies. - Track and manage key data for the portfolio of transportation contracts to avoid cost exposure and service interruption. - Utilize enterprise cost mindset to continuously improve cost and quality for the global material, service, and product distribution network. - Develop and maintain key metrics and executive dashboard on procurement status, cost improvement, and market conditions. - Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the work area. - Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization. - Identify & execute opportunities to increase bandwidth through automation and streamlining of business processes. - Assure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate policies, regulations, and laws. - Maintain organized project records and documentation in compliance with local records retention policies. - Support the Company's mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in related field of study. - 1-3 years of prior transportation purchasing experience. - Prior commercial contract negotiation experience. - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software. - Ability to communicate and motivate change clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. - Understanding of INCOTERMS and familiarity with customs, tax, and duty requirements for international shipping. - Capable of creating written reports, proposals, processes, and project documentation. - Knowledge of logistics, transportation alternatives, and customer expectations. - Knowledge of purchasing processes (SOP's, RFQ's, PO's, Invoicing, etc.) - Excellent negotiation, organization, analytical, and communication skills. - Ability to work in a fast paced environment and deliver high quality results. - Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
