We are currently seeking a Logistics Manager to be responsible for forecasting, prioritizing, planning and scheduling resources for all production related activities related to fabrication projects. This position reviews factors that affect schedules. The Logistics Manager controls storage and distribution activities of the company to ensure maximum profitability and utilization of facilities.Administration of operational procedures for activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping inventory current both domestically and internationally. Developments of inter-departmental processes to ensure project milestones are met with various departments.
This position reports directly to the VP of Procurement and Logistics. The VP of Procurement and Logistics will provide direction and support to the Logistics Manager in regard to the following areas; support for new Yorktel products and services, procedures and guidelines, escalations, career development, and employee escalation issues. This position will work directly with all departments to support the needs of the organization to provide maximum customer service to internal and external clients.
Depth of Knowledge:
This position requires extensive planning, production experience. International shipping and logistics experience highly desirable. This position should have experience and in depth knowledge of personnel management. This includes but is not limited strong discussion making abilities highly organized with the ability to communicate effective procedures to ensure the flow of departmental logistics. This position should have a background in process development and implementation, strong negotiation skill in order to efficiency and cost effectiveness. Must possess expert knowledge of supply chain management and be able to apply this knowledge to create streamlined processes to company systems.
Authority of Decision Making Capabilities:
This position will have the authority to regularly direct the work of their assigned staff. This position will work with the VP of Procurement and Logistics to prioritize work load and delegate the appropriate work to meet the needs of special projects. This position will work closely with the engineering department to ensure appropriate technical job completion is achieved, all technical ?final? discussion will be held by the engineering department. This position will also have the responsibility and authority to provide input on employee hiring, discipline, performance management, and issues. Resolution of employee issues will be within the Yorktel guidelines of established policies and procedures. The Logistics Manager will have the authority to create and approve training curricula and schedules for all warehouse staff and collaborate on proposed training and development in collaboration with the engineering department.
Leadership & Supervisory Role:
This position routinely directs a team of representatives providing direction, coaching, and feedback on performance objectives and career development. This position serves as a resource within the department for specific skills, knowledge, and experience surrounding the Production Operations and Warehouse support. This position regularly oversees 8+ employees at any given time and is responsible for all facets of employee development and leadership within the assigned team.
Leadership and Supervisory Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain an exceptional on-boarding program to familiarize new team members to York?s Vision, Strategy and responsibilities of their position in order to perform their job in the best interest of the customer. This includes process training that is job and administrative related.
Quarterly assessment of each individual on the Team against the Performance Matrix of values and behaviors in each functional group and take necessary actions.
Responsible for weekly timesheet approval, expense approval, scheduling of vacation time, and management of sick leave and absences.
Create employee development plans, provide coaching, address disciplinary issues, and employee concerns
Internal & External Relationship Responsibilities:
This position regularly influences internal and external customers to achieve a mutually desirable outcome. This position will, make recommendations to internal parties and customers in regard to concerns or issues, and ensure resolution of any problems working closely in conjunction with assigned staff. This position requires regular planning and team work in order to assist with the coordination of resources within the team and outside of the team to support various projects throughout the organization. This position handles and is expected to protect all internal and external confidential information and must utilize discretion and judgment based on company policies and procedures.
Responsible for arranging and meeting insurance requirements needed for the successful transportation of products
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Primary interface for the development, proposal and accountability for implementation of Global logistics initiatives for company systems.
Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness when picking orders from stock for shipment or transfer to fabrication
Responsible for cycle inventory counts
Oversee and participate in physical inventory efforts to occur at a minimum of once every year
Participate in overseeing facility projects when needed
Report receiving issues to staff
Generate, maintain and submit applicable reporting to supervisor assuring accuracy and timeliness
Strong ability to prioritize self and staff based on daily needs
Develops efficient workflows and procedures and implement of processes and documentation.
Resolves intra and inter-team conflicts effectively.
Be the main point of contact for interdepartmental communication.
Key Techncial Responsibilities:
This position requires knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project, UPS world ship system, International shipping procedures, and packaging, crating and shipping of electronic equipment worldwide and strong knowledge of videoconference fabrication.
