JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary of Functions:
Creation and delivery of supply chain solutions for customers and prospects through engineering, design, pricing, and process, Return on Investment (ROI) creation, and internal profitability modeling. Contribute to the rapid and profitable growth of New Breed Logistics.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to optimally position and differentiate New Breed from industry competitors and alternative solutions.
Solution Continuous Improvement: Identify existing pain points and customer needs in order to determine effective and efficient solutions for a more productive, cost effective and profitable business process.
Data Analysis: Collaborate with the customer facing team and customer to obtain detailed data about their supply chain and determine type and amount of data required. Utilize best practices to analyze large amounts of complex customer data to gain understanding of client needs; analyze, identify and define solution opportunities to improve the productivity, quality, performance and profitability of both internal and external customers. Determine and produce various cost effective solutions.
Solution Development: Lead the solutions process that goes into developing solutions. Assist in developing the vision and value proposition.
Solution Delivery: Align with internal customer?s to present value potential and compelling ROI proposals to prospects thorough preparation and delivery of presentations. Deliver compelling and customized supply chain, transportation management, and logistics solutions to internal and external customers and prospects by leveraging New Breed.
Project Management: Perform project management functions, leading standard solutions from beginning to end with little leadership oversight; lead and collaborate with designated department personnel through solution design, development and implementation. Provide and communicate project status clearly, timely and accurately.
Process Optimization: Analyze business processes, develop process improvements, and promote best practices improving efficiency, effectiveness and capabilities of various customer supply chains.
Leadership: Accountable for recruiting, mentoring, retaining and cultivating team while creating a results oriented culture for the purpose of thought leadership and designing strategy.
Collaboration: Collaborate with internal personnel and leadership regarding solution strategy and effectiveness in order to secure business. Develop effective working relationships with all internal business leaders and experts.
Thought Leadership: Provide internal and external thought leadership in order to improve New Breeds product penetration within the industry.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership, including but not limited to traveling as required.
Desired Skills and Direct Knowledge:
Customer needs assessment, network/solution engineering, design and optimization
Strategy development
Supply chain technology, transportation analysis systems, preferably tools from JDA/i2
3PL expertise knowledge all modes of transportation, with comparative differences between various transportation modes and concepts that affect costs; pricing methodology and strategy for all transportation modes (TL, LTL, IM, Parcel, Ocean, Air, etc)
Continuous improvement and innovation focus; cost benefit analyses and financial modeling
Quantitative and qualitative analysis skills with superior problem solving ability
Data management through spreadsheet and database applications; competitive analyses
Change management; business intelligence and reporting; outstanding planning skills
Cross-functional collaboration ? collaborate with other internal functions to drive exceptional results
Focused on customer ROI and value delivery; project management.
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Seven to ten (7-10) years experience minimum, with transportation and logistics industry operations and implementations
Familiarity with web-based applications; i2?s transportation suite, EXceed. 4000, order management applications, ConnectShip
Project management of cross-functional implementations
Proven use of formal project management practices
Expertise and experience in two or more of the following business disciplines: supply chain management, transportation, or distribution.
Advanced skills in MS Office products, including Word, Access, Excel, Visio and Project
Excellent planning, client support, communication, interpersonal and organization skills
Prior staff management experience
BS/BA degree or commensurate experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel (estimated 20%)
Ability to work extended hours to achieve business / project objectives
Ability to respond to ?on call" issues outside of scheduled work hours
