Avalara is seeking a Loyalty Marketing Manager. This is a new, important role for an innovator with a passion for results-driven B2B marketing. It will focus on retaining and cross-selling to Avalaras existing customer base, through email, direct mail, phone and online campaigns; as well as leveraging events, webinars, an online customer community and Avalaras online products as venues for promotion. The person filling this position will report to the Director of Customer Loyalty Marketing and will work closely with the Customer Loyalty team; together they will inform and retain customers through regular email communications, and devise, test and systematize ways to cross-sell and engage customers.
Write and execute quarterly marketing plans for promoting products, leveraging survey results, lifecycle data, segmentation analysis and seasonal opportunities.
Launch new products and manage product migrations/updates.
Using our customer engagement scores, develop strategies and tactics to move customers to higher (measurable) levels of engagement, making them more likely to purchase multiple products and/or migrate to newer product versions.
Promote our customer promise throughout the company, to prevent churn and increase satisfaction.
Design, execute and report on regular email communications, including monthly customer newsletters, service notifications, event invitations and renewal notices.
Design, execute and report on special email communications: in coordination with the Loyalty Marketing Operations Manager, respond to internal requests for communications, and initiate communications for Loyalty Marketing to meet its retention and promotion goals.
Write compelling customer communications and manage freelance writers.
Experience and Skills:
BA/BS or equivalent experience required; MBA a plus.
5-7 years relevant marketing experience, in particular B2B marketing; database marketing; promotions and copywriting.
3+ years experience with CRM systems; Salesforce.com a plus. Experience managing customer data, including segmentation for marketing promotions.
Understanding of sales and use tax a plus.
Exceptional project management skills, with an emphasis on clear communication, managing expectations, teamwork and managing complex projects within timelines and on budget.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Strong strategy and reporting/analytical skills.
Ability to effectively manage external agencies/vendors.
Adaptive, smart and self-reliant; able to thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment.
