Position Description:
This position is responsible for keeping our fleet of refuse collection and support vehicles operating efficiently and with minimal down time, The role of the lubrication tech is to provide the first line of defense by performing thorough preventive maintenance inspections.
Responsibilities:
? Perform preventive maintenance (PM) inspections according to company standards.
? Lubricate trucks to meet manufacturer specifications and change fluids and filters as directed by the PM schedule.
? Accurately complete inspection forms and notify the service manager or shift lead of any defects noted.
? Repair minor defects found during PM as directed.
? Enter information into computerized maintenance management system including labor times, parts issued, defects noted, and repairs completed.
? Move vehicles around yard and to and from off site repair facilities.
? Maintain a safe work environment by complying with company policies, DOT and OSHA regulations including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment and Lock Out / Tag Out devices.
? Maintain shop area, tools and equipment including cleaning areas in and around maintenance bays as directed.
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications):
? High School diploma.
? At least six months experience as a lube tech or mechanic in a commercial truck repair facility.
? Class B CDL with Air Brakes Endorsement.
? Clean driving record.
? General knowledge of diesel engines and truck components.
? Familiar with the use of hand and power tools.
? Must provide own basic mechanic?s tool set.
? Basic computer skills.
? Ability to work in adverse weather conditions on trucks that are dirty and may have unpleasant odors.
? Ability to climb ladders and crawl into tight spaces to reach some components.
? Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
? Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
? Ability to work overtime as needed including occasional weekends.
