We are seeking a Mammography Technologist. Under general supervision, perform mammography examinations in accordance with company safety, quality, and productivity standards, FDA, MQSA, ACR and state agency regulations.
Examples of Essential Functions:
Perform all required diagnostic Mammography procedures through proper positioning and technique, consistently demonstrating good judgment in evaluating the diagnostic studies.
Screen patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination. Obtain and review the requisition for examination in order to be aware of information such as procedure requested, clinical history, patient condition or any other special requirements.
Thoroughly explain procedure to be performed to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation. Monitor the condition of any patient within the department and assist the radiologist in performing needed medical attention, if applicable.
Comply with company operational and safety and emergency policies and procedures.
Maintain the Mammography equipment in good operating order. Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Check to ensure emergency equipment is in good working order. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to responsible supervisor.
Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and processing of films, adequate clinical history and previous Mammograms for comparison (if available).
Teach self-breast examination procedures to patients as needed.
Assist with patient scheduling and patient preparation required prior to examination.
Assure that ?patients first? customer service is provided to patients, referring physicians and their staff.
Conduct examinations with regard to patient?s age, condition or other special requirements.
Practice and maintain standard precautions and infection control policies.
Requirements
Candidates must have:
Associates degree in applied science or graduate of an accredited hospital based program.
ARRT (R) (M) Certification.
CPR Certification
Desirable:
Bachelors degree.
One year?s experience in Radiography and Mammography.
Knowledge:
Mammography operating principles and practices.
Patient care standards and requirements.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control principles and practices.
Customer service principles and practices.
OSHA principles and practices.
MQSA, FDA, ACR and related regulatory standards relating to testing procedures.
Skills/Abilities:
Set up, adjust, and operate mammography and x-ray equipment and quality assurance/quality control testing equipment.
Operate a computer with the appropriate radiology/mammography tracking
software.
Schedule, organize and complete work in accordance with the required deadlines
and time constraints.
Read, interpret and follow internal quality standards, protocols and government regulations.
Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors and
patients.
Copy and fax documents.
Maintain confidentiality of patient records and complete administrative records and
reports.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).
Schedule, organize and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health and safety standards.
Special Requirements/Certification:
ARRT (M) Certification.
CPR Certification.
Appropriate State License (where applicable).
OSHA Class 1 training on exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
May require use of personal vehicle for business purposes.
