The Accounting Manager works with a high degree of independence in performing accounting and financial activities for the company by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information as well as managing staff.
This role is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities, and is expected to make recommendations for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities.
This person will also assist in the analysis and preparation of the consolidated financial statements. In addition this person will be a contact for the external auditors when performing their annual audit
Essential duties and responsibilities will include:
Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions. Manage special projects.
Interface with other departments to verify transaction report data and various accounting issues that might arise.
Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed through evaluation and suggested improvements to internal accounting processes.
Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance professional development of staff as well as provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
Work with retained CPA firm to ensure a clean and timely year end audit and ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Strong proficiencies with Microsoft Office applications including intermediate to advanced level in Excel to perform pivot tables, VLOOKUP and high-level functions and formulas
7+ years progressive experience
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages Great Plains preferred.
Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to learn fast and work independently or as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
Ability to and work independently.
Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent.
Active CPA or Masters preferred.
