About the role:
The Sr. Manager of B2B Communications, working in collaboration with the Head of Communications, will be responsible for developing strategy, managing and executing the sales force communications needs and trade media duties for the corporate entity that is WhaleShark Media, including supporting the organizations partner marketing operations and corporate development teams.
Help promote WhaleShark Media's employee and corporate brand in Austin and elsewhere around the world; supporting internal clients in partner marketing/operations, corporate development, technology and human resources.
Support local, trade media relations program for WhaleShark's portfolio of websites, focusing on developing relationships with key verticals within the retail space, including macro-retail publications, apparel, consumer electronics, travel, and food & beverage trades.
Develop (in coordination with brand marketing) sales force communications collateral materials - including being responsible for copyrighting and design - that communicates WhaleShark's value proposition that aligns with our brand positioning and serves the distinct needs of the partner marketing operations and corporate development team.
Manage all company information and copy across the WhaleSharkMedia.com website, including executive bios
Support partner marketing/operations and corporate development events needs, including organizing the booth space, working with the larger communications team to develop sponsorship and executive panel opportunities.
Develop key KPIs and measure performance against our macro-marketing communications objectives (e.g., building WhaleShark Media brand awareness amongst business partners, increasing earned media coverage and link building in trade media; executing successful events support)
Collaborate with marketing teams to ensure brand standards are upheld on all marketing campaigns, collateral and communications.
Build consensus among stakeholders to enable the adoption and execution of all communications-related initiatives.
Partner with PR agency relationships to drive B2B coverage focused on building up the WhaleShark brand.
Serve occasionally as the company's spokesperson.
Monitor and evaluate competitive brand activities and recommend strategies to identify opportunities to improve our market position.
Collaborate with consumer marketing team, research and analytics/business intelligence team to monitor WhaleShark Media brand health and overall consumer shopping trends and key consideration drivers that highlight company's overall merchant/partner value proposition.
Undergraduate degree in marketing, advertising, communications or related field; MBA in integrated marketing communications strongly preferred
10+ years of B2B communications experience
Experience/knowledge of working for a retail and/or e-commerce business strongly preferred.
Experience working within a business that is largely B2C focused and experience working with supplier-relations teams, with a particular background in:
o Media Relations: working with trade media; within the retail sector a plus
o Writing/Design: Ability to write and design collateral copyright, speeches, executive PowerPoint presentations, bylines and Op-Eds.
o Events: Planning, creative strategy and execution of brand-popping
Demonstrated success leading B2B initiatives that have resulted in measurable lifts in brand awareness with a company partner community, consideration and intent
Experience building supplier/partner relationships and awareness for new consumer brands; experience supporting a pre-IPO company preferred
Experience participating in an RFP process for agency selection and managing PR agencies
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Solid knowledge of brand principles and management, and consumer research best practices.
Innovative thinker with creative, collaborative problem-solving abilities.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills.
