The Manager, Business Intelligence position owns the critical role of turning operational data into business insight and strategic direction. As the Manager within the Global Supply Metrics team, you will lead the evolution of Lightspeed?s business intelligence and reporting efforts and will work closely with Operations, Marketing, Product Management and Engineering groups.
You will use your strong SQL skills to assemble disparate data and your business analytics to make sense of that data. Your deep understanding of data tools and schemas as well as your ability to translate business questions into reliable queries and business metrics are critical to the company?s success. Providing timely information and insight to Lightspeed?s key decision makers are of the utmost importance for this role. Provide strong managerial direction and support to the junior members of the Metrics team.
Identify, report, and disseminate key performance indicators/metrics (KPIs) of panel marketing and operational programs (such as client & project profitability, operational efficiency, customer acquisition & retention, and online panel efficacy).
Provide drill-down insight into KPI performance; identify key contributors to trends and help business owners understand the link between their business decisions and KPI impact.
Model the business value of new feature launches as well as measure actual impact. Assess risk/reward tradeoffs of business and feature decisions. Analyze results of beta tests to support go/no go launch decisions.
Validate the highest impact projects to ensure appropriate prioritization, both individually and on behalf of the Metrics team.
Direct and perform ad-hoc analyses to validate business assumptions or determine root causes of business issues. Reach data-driven conclusions/decisions while avoiding over-analysis/interpretation.
Own the reporting process and maintain high quality standards of business reporting.
Build and validate simple reporting tools that can be used by line managers to monitor ongoing metrics without assistance (be an information enabler, not a gatekeeper).
Analyze consumer and client segments to gain insight on panel satisfaction and business trends.
Participate in strategic planning processes and annual operating plans.
4+ years work experience developing and delivering business reports in an online or other data-driven company. The ideal candidate has strong experience with campaign analysis and web analytics handling large consumer datasets.
4+ year history of proven and effective management experience.
Demonstrated ability to frame complex analytical problems, pull data, and extract insights leading to tangible results (increase in sales, reduction in costs, new product features, etc.).
Must have strong SQL (MSSQL and/or MySQL) and advanced Excel skills to retrieve and merge data from disparate sources.
Experience with reporting frameworks such as Cognos is highly desired.
Excellent communication skills; able to clearly summarize key insights for varied audiences.
Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
BS or MS degree in business, math, statistics, or other technical discipline.
Knowledge of the online market research industry a plus.
