This position is responsible for the overall management and effectiveness of the SMB collections process.
This position will partner with various functional groups on past due account activities, and will have a direct impact on accounts receivable and bad debt expense management. Incumbent will manage the activities of accounts receivable collections. Develop, implement and maintain systems, procedures, and policies for effective AR management activities and problem collection accounts. Oversee analysis and reporting of accounts receivable to determine overdue accounts, and recommend collection procedures. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Essential Job Functions:
Manage the collections team
Plan, evaluate, implement and continually improve all aspects of collection functions and processes
Assist in formulation of specific collection objectives and achievement of objectives
Maintain metrics for cash collections, DSO, phone stats, and email for collections team
Provide advice and consultation to assist customers in understanding and paying their invoices
Track and monitor customer balances, update AR aging, and send appropriate dunning correspondence
Ensure professional relationships are established and maintained with customers
Work closely with Director of Billing and Collections, Controller or CFO to respond to credit and collection concerns with existing or potential customers
Direct interaction with customers in resolving receivables delinquencies
Identify, analyze, and resolve problems and issues that surface throughout the customer relationship
Provide regular status reports to internal recipients and customers, as required
Weekly and monthly A/R aging analysis and management reporting
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
5 plus years experience managing a credit and collections team. Experience in high-tech or communications industries a plus
Bachelor?s Degree in business, finance or management preferred
Advanced functional knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Word required. Excellent analytical and data analysis skills
Excellent influencing skills, with the ability to negotiate effective solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills are required
Excellent customer relationship management skills
Demonstrated ability to establish trust and credibility, follow through on commitments, and take ownership for performance
Must be highly capable of prioritizing activities and schedules to obtain targeted results
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively within designated timelines
Ability to thrive in and manage a fast paced and high volume call center operation
Understanding of customer collections and billing process and operations required, and a solid knowledge of commercial credit and collection laws
Prior experience with Great Plains a plus
Conceptual understanding of broadband and dial access, VoIP, VPN, monitoring, and management services a plus
