Avalara has trained thousands of end-users, administrators and developers with courses offered on-line, on-demand and in-person. The demand for more offerings and self-service options is growing in response to a skyrocketing customer base and partner channel. To support this growth, we are hiring an experienced Manager of Training and Education to lead the strategic development and management of our Training and Education programs. The ideal candidate will take a hands-on approach in designing and developing great training programs, and has the desire and experience to build a leading edge team directly and cross-functionally. The position requires prior experience building online / on-demand / web-based training programs, and experience in a SAAS environment is preferred.
The Training and Education Manager is responsible for the overall creation and delivery of all customer and partner training including, but not limited to, curriculum design, creation and management of training collateral, and delivery of all training content through webinars, on-demand and in-person training. The Training and Education Manager must also implement continuous improvement methodology into Avalaras training programs. This position will be responsible for defining and addressing gaps in our training offerings and our future online strategy.
The successful candidate must be customer focused and results oriented. He / She will be required to collaborate with all areas across the company to insure the timely completion of deliverables required to meet the goals of this position.
This position will be located in our office in Seatte, WA or Bainbridge Island WA.
Responsible for the implementation, consistent delivery, and on-going improvement of training programs.
Schedule and host training webinars and programs including Avalara University (on-demand training), Avalara A-Z (live training) and Partner focused training.
Align with Product Management to design, develop, and implement On-Demand training.
Align with Product Management to design new training programs for new products including curriculum outline, documentation, and delivery.
Identify, develop and implement revenue generating training opportunities.
Develop and deliver new and ongoing employee training programs.
Work closely with the support and implementation teams to identify areas of improvement in product training.
Escalate customer issues received during training sessions to support for follow-up.
Track and measure the results of all training programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Education.
Minimum of 5 years in a Training or Education role in a technology company, previous SAAS experience preferred.
Experience in accounting, sales, use or a transactional tax service is desirable.
Must have experience with eLearning development tools such as Camtasia, Adobe Captivate or other eLearning development tools.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Must be a self-manager with a strong work ethic and a professional presence.
Prior experience with curriculum design including course outlines, documentation and delivery is required.
Prior experience as a Technical Trainer is required.
Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.
