The new Head of Dev/Ops at 10gen will lead operations and developer integration projects at 10gen to support the global operational demands on and growth of MongoDB. In this position you will manage our Dev/Ops team of expert Systems Engineers to own the operation and scaling of 10gen's own mission-critical systems. As leader of this team, you will help develop a operations culture where all work is automated and everyone's focus is on resolving engineering challenges and enabling product agility. Futhermore, you will work with the core engineering teams to: develop best practices, validate and optimize infrastructure configurations, develop automation, and help our customers develop and maintain state of the art MongoDB installations.Job Duties
Have a vision of where you want to take your team and the technical environment.
Take responsibility for the availability, reliability, and scalability of our products.
Understand concurrency and distributed computing.
Be responsible for developing best practices for deployment (e.g. HA, DR) and maintenance (e.g. expanding file-system, cluster recovery, etc.)
Lead the development of tools/applications that automate tasks related to infrastructure.
Understand the performance impact of kernel configurations, BIOS settings, and NIC/HBA/RAID setups.
Develop plans, roadmaps, reports, and forecasts and present these to senior management.
Build business cases to gather support and resources for new initiatives.
Develop a collaborative culture where your team will assist engineering teams with: triaging customers deployments, performance issues, and debugging the full application life cycle.
Be open minded, customer service, and solution oriented.
Manage your team's workload by setting expectations and constantly increasing efficiency so that you can take on new challenges.
Be knowledgeable of industry standards and trends.
Requirements
Experience leading and managing a technical team.
5+ years experience with system administration or development operations.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, 24x7x365 hyper growth environment.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Good organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
