Develop web sites, Facebook author pages and emails to specifications and help customers sell their work.
Use best practices when delivering assets to ensure work is optimized for the Web and its users
Recommend ideas for new content that would enhance or improve
Browser test new content in supported browsers and adjust code based on presentation in various browsers aiming for the best degradation
Stay informed of new developments in the Web and related technologies
Establish and maintain relationships with vendors for the hosting of websites, Author Blogs, emails.
Maintain assets in an organized and coherent fashion
Communicate regularly to the management team as to status of projects in process, deadlines and obstacles
Design and develop Wordpress web sites for our VIP authors.
Maintain Wordpress network of Author Blogs called Authors Express.
Design and develop new Wordpress templates for this network.
Design, develop and maintain Facebook author pages including custom banners.
Work with other web designers to maintain hosting and functionality of all author web sites.
Work in the ELAN bookstores for each imprint.
Demonstrates self-reliance by meeting/exceeding workflow needs.
Follows established processes as outlined by Manager.
Participates in process review and improvement with Manager.
Complete assigned duties based on daily business needs and individual skill set.
Consistently produces a high volume of quality work.
Is capable and adapts as needed to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Complete quality assurance checks.

High school diploma required.
Community College or University degree preferred.
Must have at least two years? experience.
- Photoshop proficiency (for photo manipulation and logo, header, and style element design)
- HTML, XHTML, XML, and/or SGML proficiency required
- Webdesign experience required
- PHP proficiency preferable, but at least a basic understanding of how the most common programming languages work, and the willingness and ability to self-educate for the creation of innovative solutions, usually in the form of simple extensions to supplement existing systems (such as simple Wordpress plugins)
- Some database (i.e. MySQL) experience preferable
- Some webserver management experience preferable, such as making settings changes to Apache, HTACCESS, etc., or at least proficiency doing technical work in DOS or SSH
- Quick and flexible to learn new software
- Excel proficiency helpful
- RegEx proficiency helpful (for text parsing)
- DOS batch script writing ability occasionally helpful
- InDesign proficiency helpful
Sufficient manual and digital dexterity to work with a computer keyboard , mouse and monitor, phone pad
May need to lift mail bins and or boxes weighing about 20-30 pounds and carry down stairs.
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. core schedule with frequent flexibility for start and ending times. Additional hours and/or overtime depending on position and needs of the business may be required.
