The Development Manager leads, organizes, motivates and develops team members through coaching, collaboration, and partnership. This role is responsible for setting technical direction, team engagement, driving for results, encouraging ownership and celebrating successes. The Development Manager also participates real-time to provide guidance to overcome difficult challenges and drive continuous improvements.WHO ARE YOU?
You have a solid understanding of .Net or Java software development. You have extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Javascript, CSS, XML, XSLT, HTML, and web services.
You've worked on or with scrum/agile teams and know how to encourage collaboration both at the team & enterprise level.
You enjoy coaching & mentoring team members to understand individual?s drivers & career paths. You are driven by the success of your team members & aligning efforts to the corporation?s goals, and you work relentlessly to build and motivate high performing teams that consistently deliver quality results.
You are driven, self-directed and a self-starter. You are constantly looking for ways to improve self, others, process & product.
You are excited about working on an application that customers want because it makes their business more efficient. You put the customer first & have a desire to know the customer base.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
8+ years of experience in a commercial software development environment building & delivering SaaS / On-line products.
3 to 5 years minimum in a supervisory, manager or leadership role, with a proven ability to provide technical and team leadership. Track record of growing and developing technical employees.
Excellent understanding of the software development life cycle, architecture and design, software craftsmanship and test automation strategies.
Good working knowledge and understanding of the Agile principals, methodology, framework, processes, roles and responsibilities.
Has proven ability to build effective high performing relationships and coalitions across businesses and functions and in a matrix organization.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or technical field preferred.
Insurance industry knowledge a plus.
Experience working with & managing offshore teams a plus.
Experience with Oracle OBIEE and BI Publisher a plus.
