Manager, Engineering Linden Lab
Overview:
Linden Lab is looking for an exceptional, hands-on, Engineering Manager to lead one of its Platform development teams for Second Life. The Engineering Manager will provide day-to-day people and project leadership for a team of engineers working on the Second Life client application. He/she will define realistic targets and milestones, establish a high level of team participation and interaction, ensure that quality is a high priority at every stage, and move projects into production in the targeted time frames. He/she will lead by example as an active participant on the team and interact with the rest of the Platform team to guide the evolution of Second Life.
Responsibilities:
Directly manage performance of the Viewer development team to ensure that the organization?s time and quality objectives are met.
Develop and lead the engineering team and help hire top quality software development talent.
Work with the wider Platform team to development processes and systems that support project/product delivery including software development, release management, QA, and documentation infrastructures.
Establish a strong collaborative culture with peers and other functions within Linden Lab and promote execution, quality and creativity.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Possess a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the complexities and needs of leading an engineering team such as making technological and architectural trade-offs, competitive analysis, life-cycle management, etc.
Leadership experience with a strong track record of success in the development, and delivery of complex, cross-platform (Windows, Mac & Linux) desktop applications.
Demonstrable experience of full project life-cycle and project management skills, particularly using Agile/Scrum practices.
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or related field.
4+ years of progressively broadening software management.
Strong experience with C/C++ in cross-platform environments.
Must thrive in multi-tasking, quick moving, distributed thinking environment.
Previous start-up experience is a plus.
Must possess high level of enthusiasm and be a strong team player.
Understanding of entertainment industry, gaming and social networking communities a plus.
