 The Manager of Infrastructure Architecture & Implementation is responsible for the overall design and deployment of technology used across Workday's global production data centers.Â
This is a very fast paced role where collaboration with your team, peers and stakeholders is critical to your success. You will be leading a talented team to architect and implement technology solutions across 6 rapidly growing global data centers.  This team works primarily on infrastructure initiatives, driven by new product feature and capacity growth, to allow the data center to continue to adapt and grow.Â
 To be successful in this role, you must have a thorough knowledge of system and networking components, configurations, emerging technologies, including their interrelationship with existing infrastructure.  A strong background in people management and project management is a must, along with strong verbal and written communication skills, planning skills, presentation skills, and the ability to quickly learn about new technology to help solve complex problems.
 Responsibilities Include
⢠Lead the team to evaluate new and evolving technology, which enhance process efficiency, reduce cost, improve manageability, or enhance customer satisfaction
â¢Â Recommend infrastructure based investment decisions to management based on results of independent assessment of current and future system/network needs.
⢠Provide strategic technical leadership by creating and maintaining clearly defined roadmaps
⢠Develop, evangelize, maintain and transfer knowledge regarding Standards and Best Practices to other teams in Technical Operations.
⢠Perform cost analyses and vendor comparisons to ensure cost-effective and efficient designs; measure feasibility of various approaches, make recommendations as appropriate
⢠Maintain technical knowledge and stay abreast of technical advancements in primary functional areas of responsibility
⢠Manage the daily activities of the team, including the planning and design process to ensure consistent delivery of results based on overall objectives
⢠Assess and manage training needs of team members to assist in their professional development
⢠Coach and mentor talented workforce to improve performance and foster career growth
⢠Forge strong business relationships with other internal teams, such as Development, QA, Customer Support, Environments, and others.   Â
⢠Perform varying levels of project management, including resource planning and allocation.
 Desired Skills and Experience
â¢Â       Minimum of 10 years of Production Operations experience with a heavy focus in both Systems and/or Network infrastructure.Â
â¢Â       Minimum of 6 years people management experience
â¢Â       Experience with a large scale web applications
â¢Â       Managed at least 2000 servers in a rapidly growing production environment
â¢Â       Strong project management experience, Strong leadership, and Stellar management skills.
â¢Â       Self-starting with the ability to learn on the fly and respond to issues with a high sense of urgency and ownership while understanding how they affect the bigger picture.
