Overview
The Manufacturing Product Engineer will be responsible for management of the technical and manufacturing aspects related to the design and production of Drobo?s storage array products. Responsibilities include leading all manufacturing engineering activities with Drobo?s ODM and CM partners through the life cycle phases and managing our configuration control PDM system. Candidate must have a strong technical background in all aspects of manufacturing including experience in electronics manufacturing (EMS), printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), surface mount technology (SMT), injected molded plastics and complex mechanical assemblies. Candidate will manage fast-paced programs across cross-functional teams, direct schedules and actions, interact with suppliers on technical matters, and serve as the main customer contact for manufacturing operations activities. This position reports to the VP, Operations.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day production and technical management of Drobo?s product manufacturing and ODM/CM production activities
Manage Drobo?s document control system (Arena) including coordination of Engineering Change Order (ECO) process
Drive technical aspects of NPI bring-up including DFM/DFT activities, first article approvals, test development and capacity planning
Work closely with Drobo?s hardware design engineering group to resolve manufacturing issues and provide closed loop feedback
Support product life cycle activities from quote to delivery, including transition from NPI to production
Create product BOMs and configuration structure
Lead product global certification activities including RoHS, UL, and TUV
Develop action plans to improve manufacturing partner performance and achieve ongoing product cost reductions
Establish and manage product and supplier quality control metrics and corrective action processes
Maintain action items for regularly scheduled technical conference calls
Support Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process with key partners
Communicate production performance metrics internally and to suppliers
Manage continuous process improvement and develop processes to help scale Drobo business
Management of test engineering and manufacturing group responsibilities

Requirements
Bachelor?s degree in Engineering or equivalent
10 years+ relevant work experience in managing outsourced manufacturing partnerships
Strong technical and product manufacturing experience
Multilayer PCB manufacturing and SMT design experience
Experience with Arena (or equivalent PDM system)
Experience in design and manufacture of machined assemblies/injection molded parts
Familiarity with ISO and RoHS certification and documentation
Excellent project management, communication, mentoring, and teamwork skills
Advanced computer skills, all MS Office products including MS Project
Ability to operate in dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Demonstrated hands-on approach
About 10% international travel
