This individual is responsible for providing primary and secondary marketing research and analytical support for current and/or emerging products in the Avanir portfolio. This includes professional and consumer research, product and market assessment; strategic positioning and message studies, ROI of tactical marketing programs, evaluation of strategic initiatives and management of national data sources. The position is a marketing- and senior management-facing role that also encompasses using marketing research to analyze and present information relevant to pipeline products and licensing initiatives, including the development of product forecasts and financial models that will be instrumental to the companys commercial development and licensing efforts.
Manage marketing research and related analytical functions and data needs in support of Avanir product portfolio. This covers all stakeholder audiences and includes but is not limited to:
Awareness, trial, adoption studies
Forecasting and pricing studies among HCPs, consumers, and payers
Advertising and messaging effectiveness
Distribution and channel penetration
Promotion response of marketing programs
Development of new tactics
Issuance of weekly and monthly reporting of market research metrics
Monitor the marketplace for threats and opportunities; work closely with product teams to apprise them of emerging competitive issues, environmental issues, and other trends in the market place
Conduct commercial assessment activities and develop forecasting approaches to support life cycle management of Avanir products, including new indications, new formulations, new packaging, and other product development initiatives.
Assist in assessing strategic options for the development of the companys commercial sector to include portfolio development, identification of attractive markets, evaluation of acquisition candidates, and support of M&A activities and other opportunities.
Manage purchase and maintenance of national-level secondary market research sources such as IMS Audits and syndicated studies.
Issue regular and ad hoc secondary data analysis and reporting.
Provide key input to annual Brand Plan
Conduct other tasks as assigned.
Bachelors degree in Business Management, Psychology, Finance, or quantitative discipline. MBA preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years pharmaceutical experience in marketing research or related analytical functions.
Qualitative and quantitative research and forecasting experience required; working knowledge of statistics.
Consumer research experience helpful.
Experience in CNS markets or Long-term care sector a plus
Thorough knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, pharmaceutical data sources, and specialized market research software.
Must have excellent problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills, and the ability to function as a team member while remaining objective.
Must be expert at integrating diverse sources of information and formulating business-relevant, strategic recommendations.
Prefer SPSS competence and/or some statistical background.
