KaloBios Pharmaceuticals Inc. is a private company based in South San Francisco, California, developing a proprietary portfolio of patient-targeted, first-in-class monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) designed to significantly improve the lives of seriously ill patients with difficult-to-treat diseases.
KaloBios is conducting three clinical development programs with a focus on respiratory diseases and cancer. Within each of these programs, KaloBios focuses primarily on patient-targeted drug indications where a prognostic or diagnostic is used to prescreen patients to determine those most likely to benefit from a given treatment.
Position Description:
The Manager of SEC Reporting has primary responsibility for all external reporting and compliance. This includes SEC reporting as well as all other regulatory agencies. This person will work with the Corporate Controller to provide assistance with the Company?s audit requirements and management of the public accounting firm (E&Y) during the quarterly and annual review/audit process. The manager keeps the Controller informed on day-to-day activities and makes recommendations and seeks approval on new or unique situations. The manager helps build and maintain a ?World Class? accounting and operations service and support organization.
The position will also be responsible for the annual budgeting and mid-year forecasting processes as well as monthly variance analysis and management reporting.
Primary Responsibilities:
? Lead annual/ quarterly external SEC filing process (10K/Q) including working across the company to refresh all disclosures; draft and review document; coordinate legal and executive review; and ensure quality and timeliness.
? Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes and disclosures required for 10-Q and 10-K SEC filings; including balance sheets, income statements, statements of shareholder?s equity and statements of cash flow.
? Assist in drafting and preparing financial analysis for the Management?s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) section within the 10-Q and 10-K SEC filings.
? Insure compliance and maintenance of XBRL requirements, including block tagging and detailed footnote tagging.
? Responsible for accounting requirements under FAS 123R in connection with the Company?s stock and option plans
? Prepare and review basic and diluted EPS calculations.
? Research new GAAP pronouncements and SEC regulations; including the preparation of technical accounting memorandums.
? Maintain SEC binders/documentation for SOX compliance.
? Filing of Form 3s, 4s, 5s, etc. as necessary.
? Provide accounting and finance due diligence support for business development and licensing transactions support as needed.
? Team with Business Development and the Legal group to review contracts for structuring and accounting issues.
? Remain current through trainings and other events on all SEC, SOX, and Technical Accounting issues.
? Manage annual SOX compliance requirements
? Manage the budgeting and re-forecasting process by compiling the financial plans and reviewing with management.
? Prepare and manage monthly clinical trial accrual process
? Represent the finance team and assist other departments and stakeholders in the company with a fair and courteous attitude particularly during the quarterly and annual reporting periods and the budget/forecast periods.

Skills and Experience:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
4-6 years? experience, with a national or public accounting firm with significant SEC reporting experience
Strong project management, leadership, relationship development and people management skills.
Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Results oriented with an ability to manage the overall project, collaborate with different individuals across the organization and at target companies, and ?roll-up the sleeves? in order to accomplish all necessary tasks.
