Manager of IT Apangea Learning
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Hi. We're Think Through Math. We help students gain confidence in math so they can succeed in school, in their career, and in life. We reached 2 million students in the U.S. last cshool year and we plan to far exceed that number in the upcoming years. Thanks to our growth we're looking to add an experienced IT Manager to help keep our systems in order and our staff focused on helping students grow.
The ideal candidate will have the technical background to understand the issues and set a strategy, but as a company we seek to outsource functions that aren't unique to our business. In this role, you might be negotiating a contract with an MSP in the morning, supporting a wireless site survey in the early afternoon, and testing connectivity for a new fiber drop at the end of the day, so you should be comfotable with a job that brings a lot of variety.
Areas of primary responsibility
Main office network, in cluding LAN and WAN/Fiber uplink (we only have one office now, but might add more in the future)
Manage Tier I end-user support. We contract with a company to provide Tier I support; this role will manage the vendor relationship and provided staff as well as serve as a point of escalation for issues that cannot be addressed at the Tier I level.
Contracts management, service/maintenance/support agreements
Infrastructure consolidation as appropriate
Desktop and server specifications and ordering (IT purchasing)
Wireless network management
Desktop and cloud-based productivity tools (Office suite, Google Apps, email, etc)
Back-office systems (we have a small Active Directory, Windows Server and VMWare environment)
Domain names and DNS lifecycle management
Network and systems security
Support for our customer-facing learning platform and public websites. This platform is Linux, Ruby on Rails, git, Redis and Postgres. We're okay with candidates not coming in knowing these tools but the ideal person will have an interest in learning and willingness to contribute.
Web application performance testing
Wordpress tuning and support
Skills we're looking for
An undergraduate degree in an IT or CS field is important for this role given the combination of technical and management skills, but we look at relevant work experience as a predictor of success. Ideal candidates will have direct, relevant experience with the technical and soft skills necessary for this visible role in a small but growing company.
