POSITION: Manager, PAS
LOCATION: Denver (downtown)
The Portfolio Administration Manager is responsible for managing risk and control within PAS (7 employees) while finding ways to make the team more productive by providing effective methods in its process practices. The manager provides detective and preventatives tools for PAS to use to mitigate risk. This will include not only BAU (Business As Usual risk mitigation) but also key initiatives related to improving the control environment in PAS Operations.
The PAS manager must have strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written) to work with and influence internal business partners as well as their associates. This position requires communication directly with various levels of management, including senior management. In order to perform effectively in this function, the PAS manager must also have an analytical approach to problem solving to assist in resolving issues quickly and accurately. They will need to work effectively in a team environment and must be able to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment. The PAS manager must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and have strong organizational skills that enable them to prioritize their work accordingly. The candidate must have a consultative approach to encourage early escalation and resolution of potential issues.
Manage operational risk in core trading and administration processes; assess business risks and work with the PAS, Trading, Technology Operations and Business Process Analysis (BPA) teams to ensure adequate detective and preventative controls are in place to mitigate risk.
Service accounts of major importance; resolve escalated or complex problems.
Review, develop, and implement policies and procedures to ensure unit efficiency.
Identify opportunities to improve current business processes related to control tasks and functions.
Create Key Risk/Performance Indicators (KRIs/KPIs) for PAS; monitor these indicators on an ongoing basis and look for opportunities to drive improvements; facilitate effective communications to Operations and senior management related to these KRIs and KPIs.
Provide Controlled Self Assessments (CSAs) oversight and coordination for PAS.
Document all process efforts to tangibly demonstrate progress and improvements and provide to management weekly/monthly.
Partner with the BPA Operations to implement consistent controls and practices within PAS.
Partner with Technology and Development on key initiatives including User Defined Tools (UDT).
Lead / Participate in other ad-hoc risk initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
8-10 years in managed account operations
Minimum of 5 years of management experience
Four year college degree preferred.
Proficiency with securities and investment advisory operations, systems, compliance, and administrative issues
A solid understanding of process management in software development
Integrity and experience with reporting and control in less than perfect environments
Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office suite
