Job Description:
The primarily responsibilities of the product manager include the planning of new
products, and the support of existing products for a given area of
responsibility. This position is focused on natural gas processing, refinery and
petrochemical industries. The position
reports to the Director, Natural Gas Product Management.
Process Product Manager Responsibilities:
> The product manager acts as the conduit
between product engineering and customers by formalizing the needs of the
market so that concrete plans can be developed to fulfill those needs. The
product manager will create and maintain market requirement documents (MRD).
The Product manager will work with outsides sales, business development,
customers, and Product Marketing to develop and approve final market
requirements. The product manager also works with product engineering and
program/project coordinators to communicate, clarify and achieve the agreed
upon market requirements.
> The product manager works with engineering
to establish and publish product specifications and performance characteristics.
This information is used by Product Marketing and sales to position the product
against the competition, to develop papers and articles in the industry and the
media, and to set expectations with customers.
> The product manager is responsible for
working with sales and with product engineering to develop, publish and
maintain the top-level product configurations (order matrix). These ?order
matrix? documents communicate the features and options available for ?standard?
products. The ?order matrix? is also used by engineering to structure the
product in a way that meets the needs of the market and the needs of
manufacturing/production.
> The product manager manages the list of development
and sustaining engineering priorities for product development for a given
industry or area of responsibility. The list of priorities is used by product
engineering for resource planning and scheduling of projects. It is also used to
communicate to management and product marketing to establish timing for new
product launches and the associated impacts on the business (new expenses and
new revenues).

The product manager supports existing products in several ways. 1) help
applications engineering and systems integration to determine suitability of
products for applications that deviate slightly from ?standard?, 2) assist
inside sales when questions about existing products arise such as unpublished
specifications, 3) work with technical support, service and directly with
customers to resolve product issues and answer product questions.
Job Requirements
Experience
Experience:
The candidate must have experience in equipment manufacturing for B2B industrial markets, preferably industrial equipment. Experience with analytical instrumentation for oil and gas markets is a huge plus.
5 years of experience in engineering and product development is required, more experience is desired.
Engineering procedures and SOP?s (ECO?s, and so on)
Product Development processes and projects
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Graphic design and drafting skills are a plus (communicating ideas with images and illustrations).

Education Required
A Bachelor Degree in engineering is required. In addition, a management degree is a plus
5 years of experience in engineering and product development is required, more experience is desired.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required.
