The Manager of Product Development position is a hands-on technology position that works as a part of the management team to direct and support the daily operations of the software engineering team in their efforts to design, develop, test and maintain internal and external applications to propel the company's success. This position leads a team of application and technology personnel who are responsible for the initial and ongoing design, implementation, administration, and support of the company's web-based applications. A breadth of knowledge in both business process and technical operations is required.
The scope of responsibility includes:
Provide input to the technical direction for product architecture and design. Interface with senior management to maintain an environment of technical excellence and innovation, and provide input on the feasibility of proposed additions, changes or directions with respect to current and future products.
Represent the Software Engineering team in all appropriate management meetings as defined by senior management.
Collaborate with management to define and communicate overall departmental goals and engineering priorities.
Ensure consistency and advancement of technical innovation within the company, its support processes and operations requirements.
Work with Product Management as a key member of the product arm of the company, balancing product requirements with technical risk and a feasible schedule.
Oversee Project Management to drive engineering projects to meet expected deadlines and to establish project plans that integrate with and support business objectives.
Manage business analysis, engineering and quality assurance operations including growth of the internal team and coordination of external resources of technical professionals.
Ensure budgetary compliance, accurate forecasting and responsible resource planning for the software engineering team.
Understand and adapt the unique work environment to enhance productivity, maintain morale and ensure team success.
Provide guidance and support for the company's IT operations.
Skills/Qualifications we are seeking:
10+ years experience leading technology teams in development life cycle.
Experience with one or more of the following databases: SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis or other NoSQL technologies
Strong background in developing and maintaining effective internal IT processes.
Demonstrated success in leading complex projects within budget and meeting deadlines.
Skilled at aligning organization and business goals, with success driving and managing organizational change.
Proven leadership and managerial abilities demonstrated by developing, coaching, and training others in an organizational setting.
BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science OR related technical discipline. Equivalent experience also considered.
