A qualified candidate will join this leading home solar company while it is in high-growth mode and enjoy working with talented leadership and staff. The focus of this role will be direct oversight of Financial Reporting including SEC and External Reporting to ensure compliance with SEC regulations, GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. The position will report to the Assistant Controller.
Lead all technical accounting activities by performing accounting research of technical issues and providing well thought out technical accounting guidance (including documentation and training) and ensuring compliance.
Participate in significant business transactions by providing technical accounting expertise. Transactions may include variable interest entities, financial instruments, equity investments, share-based compensation, leases, etc.
Monitor new accounting standards, assess their impact on the organization and develop adoption implementation plans.
Prepare presentations for senior management and audit committee on important accounting issues and trends.
Document and update accounting policies and procedures.
Prepare all financial statements, factoring in adjustments, and manage reporting deadlines for both consolidated and standalone entities, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
Prepare financial disclosures, MD&A sections for the External Reporting process.
Coordinate with the finance organization, legal, investor relations and others to draft and review all SEC filings.
Lead the accurate, timely and complete submission of all SEC filings including those on Form 10-Q, 10-K, Proxy, 8-K and various other filings.
Manage the operational and financial controls process: documentation, testing and remediation.
Other ad hoc projects as needed.
Experience and Other Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master?s degree preferred
CPA required, minimum of 2 years within public accounting, Big 4 or mid-tier experience preferred
5 to 7 years of related experience
Extensive GAAP, SEC filing requirements and SOX experience and knowledge
Must display exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with all levels within the organization
Excellent organizational, management, analytical, decision-making and research skills
Self-motivated individual with the ability to meet project deliverables
Ability to lead staff and work strategically with senior management
Prior experience in solar energy industry preferred, but not required
Willingness to work overtime to ensure deadlines are met
