The Manager, Sales Training will have responsibility for planning, managing and delivering training for the Avanir Field Team. Training will be primarily focused on needs-based selling skills, disease state, product, compliance, and specialty segment training. The Manager, Sales Training works directly with Associate Director of Sales Training, sales and marketing management, and cross functional departments to develop, implement and assess training curriculum to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency of the sales force and strategic brand alignment.
Manages all aspects of phased training, including new hiring training and continuous improvement as well as development of future curriculum to meet business needs.
Collaborates with brand, operations, compliance, and medical teams to ensure strategic alignment between brand goals and training programs and provide input to the Associate Director, Sales Training for recommendations on enhanced sales training tactics.
Maintains strong knowledge of pharmaceutical landscape (managed care, healthcare reform, etc.) and specialty segments (neurology, psychiatry, PM&R, long term care) in order to build training programs to meet current and future needs of sales force.
Utilizes knowledge of a variety of learning principles, e-learning development and training modalities to develop continuous learning training initiatives. Uses adult learning principles to appeal to the various learning styles of participants.
Design & deliver distance sales training tools such as WebEx, e-learning, audio, written, etc.
Design and attend certification training for relevant training programs and vendors.
Participate in the Promotional Review Committee process for all sales training materials to incorporate all appropriate regulatory and legal compliance programs into the appropriate training programs
Assist in the definition and development of core commercial competencies and create tools and programs to support them
Responsible for the development of classroom training programs including disease and product education, e-learning modules, speaker workshops, and presentation coaching
Establish and implement key metrics to track and communicate level of value and impact of sales training and development initiatives to all stakeholders
Work closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure appropriate integration of sales and marketing materials into all training programs
Manage, design and deliver sales training materials for Regional / National Sales Meetings, in close coordination with Marketing and other cross-functional departments.
Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements
Select, develop, and manage relationships with key vendor partners
The ideal candidate must have 5+years of selling experience with at least three years in pharmaceutical specialty sales
Proven communication skills with a well-developed ability to efficiently and productively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work in close collaboration with multiple departments including sales and marketing in order to align on objectives and provide consistent feedback and communication
Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities including budgeting and actual spend against budget is required
Ensure that all training programs are consistent with, and supporting of, company regulatory and compliance guidelines
Demonstrated ability to influence and interact effectively with all levels of the company
25-35% national travel required
BA/BS Degree required, preferably in life science or business. MBA a plus.
