Manager/ Senior Manager Accounting Operations KaloBios Pharmaceuticals
Job Location: San Francisco, CA
The Manager of Accounting Operations has primary responsibility for the accounting operations including the monthly close process and overseeing the General Ledger and Accounts Payable process. This person will work with the Corporate Controller to provide assistance with the Company?s audit requirements and management of the public accounting firm (E&Y) during the quarterly and annual review/audit process. The manager keeps the Controller informed on day-to-day activities and makes recommendations and seeks approval on new or unique situations. The manager helps build and maintain a ?World Class? accounting and operations service and support organization.
Manage monthly close process, including maintenance of detailed close calendar/checklist
Research technical accounting issues to ensure proper accounting treatment in accordance with US GAAP
Prepare and manage monthly clinical trial accrual process
Prepare/Review balance sheet reconciliations and perform first level reviews of accounts and reconciliations
Manage GL Accountant/Accounts Payable
Work with external auditors during the quarterly and annual financial statement audits
Work with SOX Consultants during the quarterly and annual SOX audits
Assist with development and maintenance of Accounting policies, processes and procedures, in accordance with GAAP, SOX and Company objectives
Streamline business and accounting processes to ensure efficient processing and appropriate control environment

Background and Experience:
Skills and Experience:
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years corporate accounting experience with 2 + years experience with a national or public accounting firm preferred
Recent public company experience under SOX controls
ERP/ System implementation experience
Highly organized with strong analytical and project management skills
Strong project management, leadership, relationship development and people skills.
Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Results oriented with an ability to manage the overall project, collaborate with different individuals across the organization and at target companies, and ?roll-up the sleeves? in order to accomplish all necessary tasks.
