We're looking for a hands-on Manager to drive the design, development, test, and maintenance of Apps for Splunk, especially in the Virtualization, Big Data, Java/J2EE and Infrastructure space. Splunk Apps are Analytics applications built on top of the core Splunk engine. You will be required to become an expert at applying Splunk technology to a wide array of analytic problems. To you, Splunk is the ultimate hammer, and everything is a nail. You'll work closely with the application engineers, core engineers and the field teams to productize solutions created from a variety of sources, and develop unique solutions to address customer needs.
Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!

- Recruit and manage a small team of very strong engineers to develop and enhance Apps built on top of Splunk for a variety of analytical solutions
- Be hands on, lead by example and motivate the team to innovate and deliver high quality products
- Take ownership of engineering and delivery of the products, work with Product Management, QA and other organizations to deliver products in a timely manner
- Play a key part in driving the strategic design to support the long term vision for the products
- 5+ years of industry experience preferred
- 3+ years of engineering management experience preferred
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and understand a wide variety of technical challenges to be solved

- Excellent problem solving skills

- Excellent understanding of how systems deployed and managed

- Experience with CSS/HTML/JS
- Experience with various scripting languages like Python, Ruby desirable
- Experience with Java/Jvm and its intricacies is a plus
- Knowledge of containers like JBoss/Tomcat etc is a plus
- Experience with working in a Hadoop/Cassandra like cluster environment is a plus
 

Education: Got it!

- Bachelors or higher in Computer Science or equivalent experience
