The Manager, Synchronous Teaching will work across 2U?s various graduate and undergraduate programs to help university faculty improve their mastery of our synchronous teaching environment. While this position will include responsibility for assisting in the training and ongoing support of online section instructors, it will also involve working directly with the lead professors who design our courses (?Course Leads?). In this capacity, the Manager, Synchronous Training will help Course Leads understand the capabilities of this synchronous environment and offer technical and logistical guidance as they develop lesson plans for the weekly live sessions. This position is critical in 2U?s effort to improve continually on the white-glove service we provide to our university partners and on the quality of teaching they provide to the students in our online programs.
Reporting to 2U?s Director, Faculty Support & Training, the Manager, Synchronous Teaching will also work closely with 2U?s Content team during the planning of new courses. He/She will also work to ensure faculty needs are acknowledged and met. The Manager, Synchronous Teaching will join a growing faculty support team that provides high-quality support and training to our program faculty and ensures that they are in a position to provide an outstanding online learning experience for our students.
What You?ll Be Responsible For:
Providing Course Leads with the knowledge and skills needed to determine the best use of the technology for live (synchronous) sessions.
Effectively training all new faculty how to use the online learning platform with the goal of creating self-sufficient successful online professors.
Actively monitoring live online classes to ensure successful delivery.
Engaging university staff and internal cross-functional teams to promptly resolve any issues.
Tracking, triaging and quickly resolving technical issues for faculty.
Communicating clearly, patiently and concisely with faculty, in writing and verbally (over the phone.)
Mastering administration of the online Learning Management System, as well as Adobe Connect Pro, in order to proficiently provide technical assistance to faculty and troubleshoot with competence.
Things That Should Be in Your Background:
Bachelor?s degree required.
Master?s in Teaching or other related field preferred.
Minimum 5+ years? experience working in a service-oriented, customer support or related field.
Strong background in education and/or training.
Familiarity with online learning technology.
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
