Managing Lead Teacher Brightside Academy

This is a dual-role position where a percent of time involves classroom teaching and a percent of time involves academy administrative tasks. As a highly professional individual, the managing lead teacher works closely with the academy educational director to provide a model early education and care environment within their assigned classroom and maintains and supports a positive and appropriate educational program occurring at academy.
Essential Duties: Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
I. Program Quality
Support academy programming within assigned age groups/classrooms.
Work in conjunction with academy teaching staff and the academy education director to ensure adequate classroom supplies, equipment and resources are available.
Assist the academy education director with the quality rating improvement system (QRIS) for their assigned age group/classrooms to ensure the obtainment and maintenance of the highest quality credentialing.
Know, articulate and remain current of best practices in professional development for early childhood education.
Understand and be mindful how personal appearance, dress, use of body language and the voice tone impact the presentation, environment, and how staff, children and families engage.
Supports the educational environment and programming of their assigned age groups/classrooms. This includes but is not limited to:
Supporting teacher planning by reviewing curriculum documents and preliminarily reviewing all Weekly Planning and Child Planning Forms among their assigned age groups/classrooms.
Reviewing and providing feedback on classroom and academy educational environments.
Providing feedback on and assisting teaching staff in the implementation and reflection of curricular, environmental and child assessments (formal and informal).
Assisting teaching staff in the provision of individualized programming and differentiated instruction.
Creating and orienting children to an appropriate learning environment including room preparation, greeting children, engaging children in cooperative learning, and addressing social, emotional and comfort needs of the learners.
Creating a positive and encouraging climate of diversity for ideas, questions and learning.
Actively participates in and maintains the academy ?response-to-intervention? system, particularly within their assigned age groups/classroom. The academy response-to-intervention system works to ensure successful outcomes for all children and families who experience our programs. This includes, but is not limited to:
Participating in academy meetings regarding the response-to-intervention system.
Ensuring the implementation and maintenance of the response-to-intervention process within their assigned age groups/classrooms.
Assisting teaching staff and families in the implementation of identified strategies for individualized education.
Promoting the importance of a positive behavior support system within the classrooms.
Reporting to the academy educational director regarding response-to-intervention cases and needs.
Actively participates, sometime leads components of frequent academy staff meetings in conjunction with the academy director and academy education director.
Assists the academy education director with professional development planning. This includes, but is not limited to:
On-boarding and mentoring of new teaching staff within their assigned age group/classrooms.
Frequent staff training via academy staff meetings.
Recommending specific training topics/concepts for academy colleagues.
Motivates academy colleagues by maintaining a positive attitude and leading by example.
Assists in the creation of a positive, enjoyable work environment, maintaining confidentiality and encouraging trust and loyalty among all academy employees.
All other duties as assigned.
The managing lead teacher?s primary focus is the provision of high quality programming within their assigned classroom. Their classroom must serve as a model and possible training resource to other academy teaching staff. Model classroom programming must include a triangulated framework of family-centered practices; developmentally, individually and culturally appropriate practices and intentional teaching; and program support. The managing lead teacher must be committed to best practices; always striving for excellence and successful child outcomes. The managing lead teacher?s secondary focus is to support academy colleagues in the provision of high quality educational experiences. Therefore, the managing lead teacher must be passionate about the early education and care field; knowledgeable and articulate about recommended practices for all age groups, particularly within the age group(s) they have been assigned; and be able to support and mentor fellow educators in an effort to promote similar traits and skills. An effective managing lead teacher must have the following education, experience and abilities:
Minimum of an Associate?s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field (child development, special education, elementary education or human service field with 30 ECE credits).
Minimum of three-five years of documented early educational teaching experience, with at least two years of experience within a Brightside Academy classroom. This experience must include classroom management, curricular planning and implementation, environmental and child assessment, and family involvement practices.
Demonstrated excellence in classroom programming, preferably among Brightside Academy classroom assessment processes.
Demonstrated communication skills, including expressive (written and oral) as well as receptive skills.
Demonstrated ability to independently as well as collaboratively make appropriate and rational judgments and decisions, reason effectively and solve problems.
Demonstrated computer literacy. Proficient in Microsoft Office a plus.
Must possess exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to frequently lift or move weight as in lifting, carrying or holding children and infants of 10-60 lbs.
Ability to effectively read, write and communicate the English language. Bilingualism is a plus.
