Manual Machinist/Fabricator Niagara Thermal
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Job Description:
Responsible for setting up and operating manual machine tools, such as milling machines, press brakes, power saws, and/or power shears, to machine metallic workpieces.
Set up and operate manual machines used to cut and shape precision workpieces used in the manufacture of heat transfer products from solid blocks of metal.
Fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials and layout techniques.
Read and interpret blueprints and/or job orders to determine product specifications, tooling instructions, and sequence of operations.
Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material on workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on manual machines.
Control position of tool and workpiece in relation to each other and set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut. Makes adjustments as necessary.
Set-up fixture or feeding device, start machine, feed tool to workpiece, and engage feed.
Direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tool and workpiece.
Visually and audibly observe operation of manual machine to verify conformance of machined workpiece to blueprint and/or job order specifications and to detect sounds, such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration. Correct identified production problems as necessary.
Assist and train Manual Machinists in complicated procedures.
Complete all required paperwork.
Inspect all finished product to confirm meets blueprint and/or job order specifications.
Perform minor machine maintenance as required or directed.
Use all safety devices/tools to ensure safe operation of manual machines.
Ensure work area is kept clean and organized at all times.
