MANUFACTURING ASSEMBLY ENGINEER / TOOLING DESIGNER
The primary responsibility of this position is to support production of Fuel Cell Stacks and Power Plants with a focus on tooling design and assembly process improvement. This position involves close interaction with numerous engineering disciplines and hourly functions. Ability to work in a team environment is a must. Must be comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic work environment. A strong commitment to continuous improvement and Root Cause Corrective Action is required.
Responsible for all aspects of the Assembly Process including Tooling, written instructions and all Process Documentation.
Work with Product Engineering and Assembly Area personnel to develop efficient methods for assembling product. Design or specify tooling as required.
Be proficient with varied manufacturing concepts such as Lean, SPC, Capacity Analysis, JIT, MRP, Kanban, TQM, PM, etc.
Lead Peer Reviews, FMEA?s, EH&S Reviews related to new tooling and equipment changes.
Manage procurement and implementation of designed tooling/equipment.
Tooling should be amenable to high volume manufacturing. Must be safe, easy to use and low maintenance.
Low complexity designs are preferred with use of COTS materials to minimize cost wherever possible.
All designs will be completed and documented in ProE and/or AutoCAD.
Minimum Education Requirements:
BS in Mechanical or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering
Varied computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, various CAD packages
Preferred Experience / Skills:
At least 5 years experience in manufacturing, preferably in a high volume production environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Work independently, and proactively.
Experience with product introduction (prototype to pilot to volume ramp-up).
