Manufacturing Engineer SAGE Electrochromics
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED SAGE Electrochromics is the world leader in electrochromic glass for the building industry. A wholly owned subsidiary of Saint Gobain, SAGE is seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals to help drive the manufacture of SageGlass, electronically tintable glass for use in windows, skylights and curtain walls.
The manufacturing engineer performs a central role in the SageGlass manufacturing process, generating data-driven improvements in equipment, quality, throughput and yield while increasing our understanding of crucial electrochromic window manufacturing processes. The engineer is responsible for production performance of a portion of the manufacturing line, including equipment performance, assuring that PM procedures are complete and appropriate, control plans, process SOPs, FMEAs, documentation, process SPC, leadership and training of operators, and other duties as required.
Key responsibilities include:
Dedicated attention to safety and cleanliness in the work place
Assuring that preventive maintenance plans and documentation for the equipment are complete, and working with maintenance to assure that maintenance is performed as scheduled.
Ability to work with vendors to optimize equipment performance and implement improvements needed to support the SAGE process.
Development and maintenance of manufacturing process quality systems and documentation
Monitoring and leading action, as necessary, to equipment, process, and product issues
Leadership in design and implementation of equipment improvements, production process control and product quality improvements
Reporting on equipment performance, quality, yield, and throughput as required
Maintenance of systematic records of equipment issues, experiments, process modifications, and overall process knowledge
Training of process technicians in equipment and process operation and process control methods, monitoring of operator performance
A four-year degree in manufacturing, mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent
Strong analytical and statistical analysis ability, including experience with Design of Experiments (DOE)
Excellent problem solving, creative thinking and leadership skills and flexibility
Strong verbal and written communication skills
At least 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering
The ideal candidate will also have:
Excellent knowledge of large area glass processing technology and equipment, particularly pertaining to large area coating and insulating
Experience with clean rooms and clean room processing
Experience with the application and interpretation of metrology in glass, glass coating and window manufacturing
Experience with the application of six-sigma and lean methodologies
